‘The Young and The Restless’ Renewed for Four More Seasons on CBS!

CBS has renewed “The Young and the Restless” for four more seasons, which will take the daytime drama through the 2027-2028 season.

Since its inception in 1973, “The Young and the Restless” has been the longest-running series on CBS. Depicting the inhabitants of the illegitimate town of Genoa City in the Midwest, the series chronicles the rivalries and romantic relationships of the Newman, Winters, and Abbott families over the course of fifty years. Peter Bergman, Eric Braeden, Melody Thomas Scott, Sharon Case, Joshua Morrow, Michelle Stafford, Kate Linder, and Lauralee Bell are among the notable cast members.

With this renewal, the serial opera will continue for a total of 55 seasons. With an average of 3.5 million viewers per episode, the current season of this daytime drama has maintained its position as the most-watched for the 36th consecutive year.

Wilson Phillip Bell and William J. Bell jointly conceived of “The Young and the Restless.” The project is produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television by Bell Dramatic Serial Company. Josh Griffith assumes the role of executive producer and chief writer.

“With great pleasure, we shall continue the legacy of ‘The Young and the Restless,’ which has been a cornerstone of daytime television for more than half a century at CBS,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “Each day, the show’s iconic moments—compelling performances and stories—provided by the show’s talented writers and cast—contribute to the program’s high-rated status and have delighted generations of fans for more than five decades.” We eagerly anticipate witnessing the innovative and unexpected developments that they have in store for the residents of Genoa City.”

Adam Sharp, president and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, further stated, “NATAS extends its congratulations to ‘The Young and the Restless’ for being renewed for an additional four seasons.” In 2023, both ‘Y&R’ and the Daytime Emmys commemorated their golden anniversaries. It is truly heartening to observe the enduring devotion that continues to support daytime television. Later this year, we eagerly anticipate reuniting with the Y&R team to celebrate the 51st Annual Daytime Emmys.
